ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
(Last revised on 10/20/2010)
The Minnesota MicroNet Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) explains activities
which are explicitly prohibited by customers using Minnesota MicroNet's
network services. Engaging in any of these activities can be considered
grounds for account termination. This list is by no means exhaustive and
will be updated as necessary. Minnesota MicroNet reserves the right to
determine what is acceptable use of our network.
Our policies were designed with the following goals in mind:
Ensure the security, reliability and performance of our network.
Because our network is a shared resource, ensure fair and equitable
distribution of resources for all customers.
Encourage the responsible use of net resources, discouraging practices
which degrade the usability of network resources and thus the value of
Internet services.
Preserve the privacy and security of individual users.
We ask for your cooperation in adhering to the following policies so our
network can run as fast and smoothly as possible for all that use it.

BULK MAIL AND MAILING LISTS:
- Unsolicited bulk mail (spam) of any kind is strictly prohibited.
- Any other bulk mail must be Confirmed Opt-in (aka double opt-in
or closed loop opt-in).
You must maintain complete and accurate records of all
consents and confirmed opt-ins and be prepared to present
those records in case a spam complaint is filed against you.
Confirmed Opt-in means a user has explicitly subscribed
or requested to be added to a mailing list and you have
confirmed their email address. Confirmation is usually done
by responding to a confirmation email sent to the
email address the end user specified. The confirmed opt-in
method ensures that no person can subscribe someone else out of
malice or error.
You are not be permitted to use any mailing list that you
were given or purchased. Doing so will be considered
spamming and may result in termination of the offending
account.
Legacy lists that are not confirmed opt-in will need to be
converted to a confirmed opt-in list.
- Commercial bulk mail must conform to CAN-SPAM Act of 2003.
